Elle Fanning and Haifaa al-Mansour on why 'Mary Shelley' is the story of a 'woman's struggle'

In "Mary Shelley," which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, Elle Fanning plays the legendary "Frankenstein" author for director Haifaa al-Mansour. The pair sat down with the L.A. Times to discuss the feminist themes of the film and Shelley's life, including why the author felt a kinship with the monster she created and the importance of reclaiming the story of Frankenstein with a female point of view.
