“A Dying King: The Shah of Iran” director Bobak Kalhor on the struggles President Jimmy Carter and the shah faced in the U.S. and Iran as political leaders

“A lot of Iranian Americans are very hard on [President Jimmy Carter], they’re very critical of him,” Iranian American director Bobak Kalhor said. “And I used to be; before I started this story I kind of had the same attitude.”   Kalhor sat down with Los Angeles Times writer Jeffrey Fleishman to discuss his new documentary, “A Dying King: The Shah of Iran,” which examines the medical mistakes and political intrigue that led to the death of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the late Shah of Iran, who fled to exile during the Iranian Revolution in 1979.
