Hoy Los Angeles Marks 10th Anniversary with Launch of Hoy Deportes

The Los Angeles Times Media Group’s Hoy Los Angeles celebrates its 10th birthday with the introduction of Hoy Deportes, a new website beginning today and weekly Monday print edition beginning March 3. Hoy Deportes will be dedicated to covering local, national and international sports relevant to Southern California’s ever-growing Spanish-language population and offers advertisers new vehicles to reach engaged consumers in the country’s #1 Hispanic marketplace.

“Latino-heritage Angelenos rank amongst the world’s most avid sports fans and, with the World Cup about to take to the pitch in Brazil, we felt the time was right to launch Hoy Deportes,” said Editor Alejandro Maciel. “We’re excited to give readers rich, up-to-the-minute sports news and information online and via mobile devices, as well as ensure readers interested in a print edition get each week’s scores, game reports, athlete profiles and more every Monday.”

Hoy Los Angeles’ editorial mission is to provide engaging news and information that supports community involvement and connection to Spanish-language cultures. Hoy Deportes will place significant focus on f útbol leading up to the June kick-off of the FIFA World Cup™ and work in conjunction with LA Times to provide full, multicultural coverage of the tournament. The new hoydeportes.com sports site joins the popularhoylosangeles.com, Hoy’s weekly Friday edition, and weekend-focused Hoy Fin de Semana Saturday edition. Hoy Deportes’ Monday print edition will replace Hoy’s Thursday publication and Hoy’s overall weekly print distribution remains at more than 1 million copies.
