Alex Karras

As an athlete: Karras was a superb defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions, but he might be best remembered for serving a one-year suspension in 1963 for betting on NFL games. As an actor: Karras started his acting career in the early 1970s. Soon, he guest-starred on an episode of M*A*S*H as a soldier who was saved by Alan Alda's character. Karras' best-known role, however, was as George Papadapolis on the ABC sitcom "Webster".
