Kathleen Ballantine of Newfoundland, Wayne County, walks with her father, Clifford Ryerson, an 88-year-old Pearl Harbor survivor. He was chief quartermaster on the auxiliary minesweeper USS Tern, which was tied up across from Battleship Row when the Japanese attacked on Dec. 7, 1941. Here, father and daughter climb the hill outside the Tannersville home of Clifford's son Glenn.
