Upcoming Boyle library events

The Boyle County Public Library has the following upcoming events:

  • The Third Thursday Book Club will discuss “Up From the Blue” by Susan Henderson at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. April 19. Copies of the book can be picked up at the circulation desk.
  • A poetry reading by nationally-known Danville native Maurice Manning will be noon April 16. Manning’s most recent book, “The Common Man,”¿was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
  • The Friends of the Library’s “American Comedy Classics II” film series will continue 7 p.m. March 29 with a 1942 road comedy directed by David Butler and starring Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour.


Lincoln names new GOP officers

The Lincoln County Republicans have elected new officers: Candice Franklin, chairman; Scott Maples, vice chairman; Janet Gordon, treasurer;  Lynda Closson, secretary; and Steven Hoeck, youth chairman.



A story in Wednesday’s edition of the Advocate-Messenger naming the current board members of the Wilderness Trace Community Foundation should have included Joe Brown and Steve Manning.
