Molly Smith directs a loving, incisive revival of Meredith Willson's "The Music Man" that makes this 1957 musical fresher than ever. The first-rate cast is headed by Burke Moses as the irresistible con man Harold Hill, who turns a small town upside down. Performances continue through July 22 at Arena Stage. Larry Kramer's incendiary 1985 play "The Normal Heart," (pictured) chronicling the first few years of the AIDS crisis, received a Tony Award-winning Broadway revival last year. Arena Stage presents that production with a powerful cast that delivers not only the polemical side of the piece, but its emotional truths, in searing fashion. Through July 29. Opening Aug. 23 is "Red Hot Patriot," a one-woman show about the late, brilliant, devilishly witty writer Molly Ivins, starring Kathleen Turner.
