The abduction of the matriarch of Maryland's most famous sports family still has people scratching their heads: an unknown man cornered Vi Ripken in her Aberdeen garage, tied her up, put her in the backseat of her own car and went on a joyride throughout the Baltimore region for some 24 hours. Then, with police searching throughout her neighborhood, he quietly returned her to her street and left without being detected. The man has yet to be identified or apprehended, and police have released no motive. Multiple surveillance camera pictures have been issued to the public, and Cal Ripken himself has spoken out, but the case remains a mystery.
