( Getty photo / September 28, 2011 ) This one was so great not just because of the two-run rally in the bottom of the ninth against Papelbon, but also because what the game meant. With the Tampa Bay Rays nearly simultaneously beating the New York Yankees, the Orioles' victory knocked the rival Red Sox out of the playoffs on the last day of the regular season. Robert Andino's walk-off single that bounced in front of outfielder Carl Crawford and scored Nolan Reimold set off an amazing celebration in the stands and on the field — and prompted Andino to say after the game, "End of season like this, to make Boston go home sad, crying, I'll take it all day." |
