A recent picture shows a decrepit bunker lying in the midst of garbage in front of new buildings erected in recent years, in the suburbs of Tirana, Albania. Albania is set to formally join NATO later this week. The bunker shells are remains from a military defense line created in the Albanian communist era. Late dictator Enver Hoxha built more than half a million bunkers to protect the country from an invasion that never came.
