The Anne Arundel County Board of Education on Wednesday unanimously approved a plan that will redistrict
The board voted to support plan crafted by Superintendent Kevin Maxwell. Officials said that plan was identical to one arrived at by a community panel made up of parents and community members who had studied options to reduce overcrowding at Nantucket Elementary School.
Maps and other materials related to the plan are available on the school system website. The plan has several components, including:
* Students who live in the area of Wilson's Grove, also known as The Enclave at Reidel Pond, will be redistricted from Crofton Meadows Elementary and Arundel Middle school. Instead, they will go to Nantucket Elementary and Crofton Middle. Students from that area who now attend Arundel High will stay with Arundel High.
* Students who live in the areas of Chelmsford Drive, Johns Hopkins Drive and nearby streets will change elementary schools – from Nantucket Elementary to Crofton Meadows Elementary; but will stay with Crofton Middle and Arundel High schools.
* And for the undeveloped areas south of Chelmsford Drive and east of Underwood Road, that area will switch from Crofton Elementary to Crofton Meadows Elementary. At the middle and high school levels, it will stay with Crofton Middle and Arundel High schools.
All of those recommendations take effect August 2014, for the 2014-15 school year.
