Brian's Baseball Bash canceled for 2nd straight year

Brian’s Baseball Bash — a fundraiser for the University of Maryland Children’s Hospital hosted by Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts — has been canceled for the second straight year, organizers announced Friday.

The event has been canceled "due to uncertainty around Brian’s availability and condition after his recent injury," according to a news release.

Ticket holders are being contacted by the hospital.

Roberts is on the disabled list with a labral tear in his right hip and is considering surgery that would end his season.

Last year's event was canceled because he was suffering with post-concussion symptoms.

The 34-year-old Roberts returned from a 13-month absence last month, but his return lasted just 17 games. He has played in just 115 games since the beginning of the 2010 season.
