As a graphic designer, Nina Merkel knows how adding certain flourishes can create just the right look. And that extends to her "art director eclectic" personal style. When we "glimpsed" the Merkel Design Studio owner at the Reznick Group's party at the Center Club, she showed how adding certain accessories added festive flair to her outfit. The Towson resident started with a black ponte knit sleeveless Calvin Klein sheath from Macy's. The dress came with a wide patent leather belt, "That I'll wear and then add a big necklace." But for the party, Merkel used a red and black Ralph Lauren hunter plaid chiffon ruffle scarf as her belt, with a dressy gold and pearl necklace, a wardrobe staple. She added a pair of crocodile patent leather Anne Klein D'Orsay pumps from DSW, a gold and silver cuff bracelet, and a couple of bangles. She bought her Judith Neugebauer gold and pearl earrings at the American Craft Council craft show years ago. Merkel says she's a "piecemeal person. I don't have outfits I bought all together. I go for basic, classic main pieces. Then, I change it up with accessories."
