Glimpsed at Spirit Fest: Jasmine Black
Dancer Jasmine Black, 21, had just graduated from SMU and would be heading to New York City to audition for "Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark." In between, the Woodlawn resident came to Merriweather Post Pavilion to enjoy the Summer Spirit Festival in a style that displayed her dancer's spirit. Black knew she wanted to dress for the humid heat, so she started with a black and white striped American Apparel leotard she had actually worn for a performance. "I was bored and I wanted something different to wear. I've only worn this once for a show, and it keeps me cool." The rest of her outfit not only showed off her "modern/bohemian chic" style, but reflected her lean dancer's budget. Her cuffed white denim shorts came from Walmart. Her gold-accented black gladiator sandals came from Bakers Shoes. She picked up her Vieta satchel at Marshall's. Her belt was a thrift-store find. Her big fashion ring was from Forever 21. Her watch was a hand-me-down from her mom. And her necklace? A chain strap from a purse she bought a few years back with the two clasps hooked together.
