In the upper sanctuary on the third floor of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Gloria Brown, church historian, left, and Dr. Carletta Allen, Pastor, Asbury United Methodist Church on 87 West St., are pictured next to former pastors' portraits on the original church pew at left, and an original stained glass window at right. It is the oldest African American Church in Annapolis, if not in Anne Arundel County. Its leaders are planning an exhibit on its history for later this year, in part using a $2,500 matching grant from the area's heritage organization.
