( Christina P. Tompkins, For the Baltimore Sun / November 22, 2010 ) My husband, 15-month-old son and I just recently returned from a month in Italy. I snapped this shot of "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire." Chestnuts are plentiful in Italy in the fall and are featured at the Sagra della Castagna (Festival of Chestnuts) in the small mountain town of Zocca in the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy. The town came alive to celebate this fruit, with booths offering various pastas, breads, and pastries made from chestnut flour, and a space dedicated to roasting fresh chestnuts. |
