Realizing that lacrosse is way more popular in these parts than jousting, Maryland legistators were left with the touchy dilemma of how to acknowledge the region's status as a world hotbed of lacrosse without offending all the latter-day knights who still support jousting. Their innovative solution: lacrosse was named the Maryland State <b>Team</b> Sport in 2004. Which means that, by winning the 2012 NCAA men's lacrosse championship, Loyola's Greyhounds proved themselves good Marylanders.
