Thousands of seed oysters not much bigger than grains of sand can be seen developing in "silos" as Johnny Shockley, top, empties the tanks for cleaning. Kept underwater the oysters feed off of Bay algae that is circulated through the tanks. When they have grown a bit larger they are transferred first into small baskets, and then larger wire baskets that will be lowered onto the Bay bottom until they reach a market size.
