Then in May, the actor Chazz Palminteri announced, out of the blue, that he would open a restaurant in Baltimore's Harbor East neighborhood. His only previous known connection to Baltimore had been in 2009, when he brought his one-man show to the Hippodrome. It was then, though, that Palminteri met Sergio and Alessandro Vitale, the Baltimore restaurateurs who would be his restaurant partners. In July, their collaboration, named Chazz: A Bronx Original, opened to warm reviews for its Italian menu and coal-fired pizza. In December, Palminteri's friend and mentor Robert De Niro dropped by for a friendly lunch on his way to Washington, D.C.
