Tax free week

Shopper Matthew Fox of Reisterstown, left, suggested to State comptroller Peter Franchot, right, that Maryland follow Virginia's lead and also include school supplies in the tax-free program. (Franchot said the legislature will be considering this next year.) Franchot promoted Maryland's tax-free shopping week, in effect this week for purchases of clothing and footwear under $100, while visiting with vendors and customers at the Baltimore Farmers Market.
