Some 175 supporters of the There Goes My Hero Foundation mingled in a spacious room at the World Trade Center, sampling beer, wine, bourbon and whiskey - along with lots of hors d'oeuvres - at the third annual "Taste for Life" event. What made the evening even more delicious for many of them was the knowledge their participation would help raise money to provide nutritious meals to leukemia patients, increase bone marrow registry lists and support blood cancer research. The organization was founded in 2008 by leukemia survivor - and bone marrow recipient - Erik Sauer. Among the guests were (Lto R) Katie King, Bluwire director of operations; Tara Paraska, Baltimore County School System occupational therapist; Laura Ward, community volunteer; Bekky Levesque, community volunteer; and Christian Metzger, Franciscan Center executive director.
