Most agree that Machado is a star in the making, but what can the Orioles really expect to get out of the 20-year-old third baseman in his sophomore season?
PECOTA sees his numbers looking awfully similar to those that he put up in his partial 2012 season.
Machado had a batting average/on-base/slugging line of .262/.294/.445 last year with seven homers and 26 RBIs in 202 plate appearances.
His 2013 PECOTA projections: .250/.299/.410 with seven homers and 30 RBIs in 257 plate appearances.
"Despite immediate success, expect Machado's 2013 to be more struggles than triumphs," Baseball Prospectus writes. "He has little left to learn in the minors, but he is still capable of being exploited by big league pitchers with full arsenals and the smarts to find his weaknesses."
Now it's your turn...
