GS: 13 | GP: 13 | Snaps: 910 Season in review: Pollard started the season on a tear, but he was quickly slowed down by an injury to his ribs suffered in Week 2. He toughed it out and continued to start at strong safety, but re-aggravated the injury and missed the final three games of the regular season. Pollard returned for the playoffs and did not miss a defensive snap, but he struggled in pass coverage at times, particularly in the Super Bowl. Signature moment: In the second half of the AFC championship game, Pollard popped New England Patriots running back Stevan Ridley with a hard, legal hit that knocked out Ridley. It also knocked the ball out of his hands. The Ravens recovered it and soon scored a touchdown as they pulled away from the Pats. Stat that stands out: eight -- 15-yard penalties flagged on Pollard this season, many for illegal hits. Pro Football Focus grade: -2.9 overall | +5.7 as a run defender | -5.3 in pass coverage | -5.3 in penalties. Outlook for 2013 and beyond: In a somewhat surprising move, the Ravens released Pollard a day after free agency began. The Ravens, who say they want to improve the middle of their defense, will miss his attitude and physicality on the back end, but he is a box safety who can be exploited in pass coverage.
