Baltimore-native Suzannah Murray is been shaped by her world travels. She completed an apprenticeship with a Tuareg silversmith while in Niamey, Niger. She obtained her graduate jeweler degree from Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco. At New York University, where she received a bachelor's degree in anthropology, she took her first metalsmithing classes. During her studies she also traveled to the Bedouin tents in Jordan, the tombs of Kings in Egypt, Nigerian mud huts and the Parisian flea markets where she gained an appreciation for Art Nouveau. Murray, a 30-year-old New Orleans resident, has also incorporated a magical, Southern flare in her collection. "I like everything to have a story and inspiration," says Murray, who owns a studio space, nestled in the famed French Quarter in New Orleans. "Traveling has helped me. These pieces are all things that I am in love with." Bijoux Inspired Jewels currently sells a number of Murrays statement necklaces and other pieces.
