I live in Kingsville and took a trip to Katmai Alaska. Grizzly bear viewing in this region is like no other place on earth! As we cruised on a small working boat, the bears dotted the shoreline amidst the beautiful backdrop of Alaska landscape. Traveling ashore to explore on foot, we found massive grizzlies feeding on sedge grass, clams, and salmon within several yards of our group of 5. These bears put on quite a show, fighting to capture slippery salmon using their jaws and talons (long as a man's finger). We saw many cubs with clown like antics sparing with their siblings. This wonderful trip provided me with authentic and exciting glimpses into the lives of grizzly bears.
