Bali, Indonesia

Distance from Baltimore: About a 20-and-a-half hour flight. Why it’s hot: There is something for every type of tourist in Bali, which according to the Bali Tourism Board is one of 17,000 islands in the Indonesian archipelago. Those looking for adventure can snorkel in coral reefs, hike mountains and trek through rainforests. Those looking for a cultural experience can explore palaces, temples, bars, and discotheques along the beaches and in major cities. Beach bums can lay out on the white sand beaches on the southern coast or on the black sand beaches on the northern coast. Don’t miss: Batubalan. This village in the northeast of Denpasar is surrounded by demons and gods carved in sandstone, which decorate the houses and temples. You can also visit workshops to see how these eye-catching sculptures are made. Information:
