Charm City Garden Tour on July 28 visits urban farms

The second annual Charm City Farm & Garden tour is scheduled for July 28.

The tour will take participants, by bus or by bike, to community-managed green spaces. Both tours will end at the Vollmer Center at Cylburn Arboretum for a party open to tour guests and urban gardeners featuring local music, food, lawn games and more.

Awards will be presented to exceptional gardens and farms throughout Baltimore. Also, a produce-judging contest will present awards for remarkable fruits, vegetables and flowers. Entrance to the garden party at Cylburn is complimentary. The bike tour is $15, which can be paid the day of the event. Reservations should be made for the bus tour, which is $20 per person.

Among the gardens on the tour: Secret Garden, Cylburn Aquaponics Project, Afya Community Garden, Park Heights Urban Renaissance Community Garden, Pimlico Peace Community Garden, Mount Washington Community Garden, Mount Washington Outdoor Classroom and Garden of Hope

The event is hosted by the Community Greening Resource Network, the University of Maryland Extension Baltimore City Master Gardeners and the Parks & People Foundation.
