It's holiday cookie contest, time. The City of Baltimore is accepting recipes for its inaugural Holiday Cookie Challenge, which will be held on Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. in the Light Street Pavilion at
Bakers of all skill levels can submit recipes for an opportunity to win prizes, including cash. The submission deadline is midnight on Monday, so you have all weekend to chop up your pralines.
According to a press release from the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts, here are the rules in a nutshell: Recipes should be original or modified ones, and clear and concise. The use of McCormick products is encouraged. Categories of entry include: Family Favorite Holiday Cookie, Healthy Cookie and Baltimore Themed Cookie. No more than 10 finalists are to be selected for contest. Finalists are required to prepare 24 regular-sized cookies at home, which must be based on the submitted recipes. Recipes are judged on the following criteria: taste, presentation, texture, smell and use of theme.

Hosted by Reagan Warfield of MIX 106.5 Morning Show, the Holiday Cookie Challenge will be held in conjunction with the annual Merry Tuba Christmas, and produced by Harborplace and The Gallery and the Baltimore Office of Promotion and The Arts.
It's time for The Baltimore Sun's annual cookie contest, too. To participate, just submit your favorite recipe and a bit about why it's so good. Entrants are asked to share a family favorite, handed down through the generations -- or one with more recent but memorable history. You have all weekend to work on it.
The deadline is Monday.
