Every morning, Monday through Friday, blogger Matt Vensel will hook you up with reading material -- mostly on the Ravens but with some other Baltimore sports stuff, too -- to skim through as you slug down coffee and slack off at the start of your workday. That way he'll have an excuse to do the same to start his workday, too.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh was in a jovial mood Tuesday afternoon at his weekly press conference, and gave us a few one-liners while looking back on the win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Here are three examples.
Harbaugh on his brother, Jim, coaching against Jim Schwartz: "I was thinking about that a little bit -- I don't think there's been so much attention paid to a handshake since Grant and Lee shook hands at Appomattox."
Harbaugh on saying Monday that the Ravens should pay Joe Flacco: "On Joe's contract thing, Steve [Bisciotti] might be listening to this. I want to clarify my remarks there: It was tongue-in-cheek."
Harbaugh on Anquan Boldin being "comfortable" in the slot: "You know, I don't know. I'm not big on 'comfortable.' You'd have to ask him that how he feels about being in the slot. I'm pretty sure he feels pretty good in there. ... But comfortable, I don't think I'm going to answer any more comfortable questions for the rest of the season. This is not a comfortable sport. It's a confident sport. I think confident would be an appropriate term, but it just doesn't seem like it's very comfortable out there, generally speaking."
Needless to say, these things are a lot more laid-back after a win.
RUNNING IT BACK
There is plenty for the Baltimore defense to work on before Sunday's game against Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles. … Eagles coach Andy Reid was a big influence on John Harbaugh. … Bobby Rainey joined the Baltimore practice squad. … The late Art Modell was laid to rest in Maryland on Tuesday.
RAVENS STUFF, BUT NOT FROM US
BEHIND ENEMY LINES
Michael Vick is trying to do too much. … Protecting Vick needs to be a team effort. … The Eagles quarterback's turnover woes are threatening to become a dangerous trend. … The Eagles have given up on 2011 second-round draft pick Jaiquawn Jarrett.
