Discount retailer Marshalls will open its new store at the Inner Harbor next Thursday with a day of giveaways and gift card prizes.
The retailer, which sells brand-name apparel at a discount, has taken over the second floor of Lockwood Place on East Pratt Street, the former Filene’s Basement spot.
The Framingham, Mass.,-based company operates more than 900 stores in 43 states, offering women’s, men’s and children’s apparel, shoes, accessories, home goods and luggage. Baltimore store features include The Cube, an in-store boutique of contemporary fashions, the Shoe Mega shop, with designer and brand name shoes, and a single-queue checkout designed to keep lines moving.
Store officials promise some 10,000 new items will arrive in the store each week, purchased from more than 15,000 vendors in more than 60 countries.
The new store will employ 60 full- and part-time people.
A grand opening is slated for March 21 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Regular store hours will run from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
