Cundiff surprisingly missed practice Thursday

Starting left guard Ben Grubbs returned to practice Thursday, fully participating. But the Ravens listed kicker Billy Cundiff as sitting out the session.

Cundiff was absent due to what the team described as an issue with his left calf. It’s unclear if the injury will prevent Cundiff, a Pro Bowler last season, from playing Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

Cundiff was joined by inside linebacker Ray Lewis and center Matt Birk, both of whom did not practice for the second straight day.

Lewis has missed the last three games due to a turf toe injury on his right foot. Birk, who is dealing with a shoulder injury, was present but watched from the sideline.

Cornerback Chris Carr (back) also did not practice for the second consecutive day. Rookie running back Anthony Allen (hamstring) fully participated for the second straight day.

For Indianapolis, three starters who did not practice Wednesday returned Thursday. Linebackers Pat Angerer (knee) and Ernie Sims (toe) were limited, while defensive end Dwight Freeney (non-injury related) fully participated.

Starting tight end Dallas Clark fully participated for the second straight day. Clark has missed the team’s last three contests because of a fibula injury.

Three starters in wide receiver Reggie Wayne, center Jeff Saturday and defensive end Robert Mathis did not practice as they were given the day to rest.
