Several notable Ravens – including eight-time Pro Bowl free safety Ed Reed – were new additions on the list of absent players from Monday’s practice at the team’s training facility in Owings Mills.
Reed banged his left knee trying to stop backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor during a red-zone exercise at Saturday’s session at M&T Bank Stadium. Reed was on the sideline for a few minutes, but did return to the field and finished practice.
Nose tackle Ma’ake Kemoeatu and inside linebacker Dannell Ellerbe were not present. And linebacker Darryl Blackstock, who injured his groin Saturday, did not participate.
Center Matt Birk (back spasms) and rookie outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw (bruised right shoulder) missed their seventh straight practice. Tight end Dennis Pitta (broken right hand), rookie running back Bernard Pierce (hamstring) and linebacker Josh Bynes (undisclosed) did not take part for the sixth consecutive day.
Wide receiver Patrick Williams (left shin/calf) sat out his fifth straight practice, while defensive tackle Arthur Jones (hip flexor) did not participate for the fourth consecutive day. Cornerback Jimmy Smith (back) did not practice for the third consecutive day.
Cornerback Cary Williams, who said his two-day absence was unrelated to his surgically-repaired hip, returned to the field, and wide receiver Tandon Doss (hamstring) was after missing six straight practices. Tight end Ed Dickson, who was unable to finish practice Saturday after getting poked in the right eye, also practiced.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
