First new McDonald's built in Baltimore in 12 years opens

The Oak Park, Ill.,-based food giant announced its "commitments to offer improved nutrition choices" today, including a new Happy Meal, which will begin rolling out in September, "with the goal of having them available in all 14,000 restaurants during Q1 2012." The announcement was greeted, with surprising warmth, by the Center for Science in the Public Interest, which called it "a step in the right direction."
Closer to home,.McDonald's franchisee Joe Cox, who owns a store in Clarksville, has just opened the first McDonald's restaurant built in Baltimore City in over 12 years. The new store, located at 6540 Eastern Avenue, is part of the company's global re-imaging program.
