Great crowd in England makes WWE Super Smackdown a memorable event

Let me start by saying this -- I want more WWE televised events to happen outside the U.S.

Maybe that's not entirely true. Let me rephrase -- I want more WWE televised events where we hear reactions like the ones we heard this week.

Both Raw (Monday) and Smackdown (Tuesday) were in Birmingham, England this week. The crowd was so good, that even on the second consecutive night of WWE action, the crowd reaction and party atmosphere rivalled many WWE crowds stateside. Many segments and matches felt even more special just because the Birmingham crowd was so vocal.

Yes, I'm aware that there are many factors that go into making these decisions; like money, travel, logistics, whatever else -- don't burst my bubble. As a member of the WWE Universe, and even a fan of professional wrestling in general, you can't help but have felt happy for Wade Barrett and the reaction he received on Raw. The interaction between John Cena and Vickie Guerrero seemed special all of a sudden, even if for only a few minutes. Randy Orton and Alberto Del Rio in a falls count anywhere match seemed more epic.

Cheers to you, Birmingham!

Quick notes:

** Sheamus and Wade Barrett faced off in the ring, further creating interest in their one-on-one match coming up on WWE Main Event. Big Show and Wade Barrett defeated William Regal and Sheamus after Show hit a KO Punch on Regal.

** Kofi Kingston pinned The Miz with a cross body off the top rope. Miz look confused after the bout, extended his hand, and got drop kicked for his efforts. Miz has hit a low but will undoubtedly climb back, especially since he is the marketing focal point of Survivor Series, and has an ABC Christmas movie coming in 2013. Miz in the main event in 2013 seems inevitable.

** The Prime Time Players beat Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara. After the match, Matt Striker came in for an interview and we saw some great Edge and Christian-like comedy out of Titus O-Neil and Darren Young. I wonder if O'Neil will carry a yellow flag with him in the future? Also, I wonder if Matt Striker will slowly be phased out of backstage interviews and move toward a performer role.

** Randy Orton defeated Alberto Del Rio in a falls count anywhere match. Good physical match, which the crowd enjoyed. ADR needs something new. He seems to be the guy to decimate a lower card superstar only to fall short against a main event-level guy. Is might be time for an out-of-the-box story for the son of Dos Caras.
