( Credit: Roger Johns / January 27, 2013 ) This week's runner up is Johns Hopkins anesthesiologist Roger Johns for a photo he took at Moi Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya as part of a volunteer teaching team. He used a Nikon D300 with a 70mm lens and the single operating room light to photograph the delicate surgery. "There is something fascinating about so many hands focused on working on such a small area. Roger did an excellent job holding a range of tones in the white gloves under the bright surgical light." |
