"Roulette," ($14.95 DVD, $19.99 Blu-ray), the first feature from Baltimore's Erik Kristopher Myers, is a complicated, Rubik's Cube of a movie, not to mention a remarkably assured first effort. Three people -- a newlywed suffering from multiple sclerosis-like symptoms, a conflicted religious zealot and a white-collar drunk with a disintegrating marriage -- are in a room together playing Russian roulette. As the suspense builds to an almost excruciating degree, the film switches back and forth relentlessly between the three characters and their stories of what drove them to such despair, before exploding in an ending you won't see coming.
