Hall of Famer Earl Weaver, who passed away on a baseball-related cruise last month, was honored during pregame ceremonies for the opening of the Grapefruit League exhibition season on Saturday at Ed Smith Stadium.
The O's observed a moment of silence and showed Weaver highlights on the video scoreboard. Weaver's No. 4 was painted on the grass in front of the Orioles dugout. The Orioles obviously will honor Earl as part of the regular season Opening Day ceremonies at Camden Yards and will wear a patch memorializing Weaver on their jerseys all season.
