The MPSSAA issued a news release Sunday stating that all field hockey region semifinals will be rescheduled on the very next day that weather and field conditions permit games to be played with school in session. The same holds true for the boys and girls soccer quarterfinals. Games and rounds may need to be played in immediate succession in order to get the tournments back on schedule so that the State Semifinals can take place on the designated dates. This means that there are no days off if the tournament is behind schedule, except for Sundays.
The state semifinals in field hockey are set to take place Nov. 5 and Nov. 7 at Broadneck and Franklin, with the finals set for Saturday Nov. 10 at
The state semis in boys and girls soccer are set for Nov. 10 at a number of host high schools with the state finals running from Nov. 15 through Nov. 17 at UMBC.
With no events scheduled for Monday in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association, the league is taking a wait and see approach before planning for the rest of the week.
The boys soccer regular season is in its final week with games set for Tuesday and Thursday before the playoffs start Nov. 6.

Should the league decide to freeze the regular season, the playoff seedings would be based on the current league records.
Another concern the league has pertains to Saturday's quarterfinal round football games and whether the teams involved will have enough practice time this week to safely be ready. Two games are on Saturday's slate with McDonogh traveling to Loyola at 2:30 p.m. and Mount St. Joseph visiting Archbishop Spalding at 6 p.m.
In the IAAM, the cross country championships – originally set for Thursday – has been pushed back to Nov. 5 at Oregon Ridge Park. The varsity race will begin at 2:30 p.m. and there will be no open race this year.
The field hockey quarterfinal round has been rescheduled for Thursday with location of games determined by field conditions and availability. The semifinals will take place Friday with the championship games staying as planned Sunday at Goucher College.

The championships, originally scheduled for Sunday, have been moved to Nov. 5 (A and B championships) and Nov. 6 (C championship) with all games remaining at Stevenson University.
