This team has an amazing survival instinct: After Troy Patton gave up one run in the eighth, the Orioles bullpen pitched seven scoreless innings in relief of Tommy Hunter on Wednesday night in another gritty, gut-it-out game that featured a ninth-inning comeback and a mammoth game-winning home run by Adam Jones. They have won six straight games on the road. They already are 6-3 in one-run games. They've won five straight extra-inning games. They have been very dangerous trailing in the late innings. And, as evidenced by their terrific comeback in a losing cause against the Rays on Sunday, they just refuse to give in. That's a nice character trait for a team trying to establish itself as a legitimate contender in the American League East.
