Packing for the stretch run: Baseball operations chief Dan Duquette continues to stockpile starting pitchers, trading for left-hander Joe Saunders and working on a deal to sign veteran Randy Wolf (pictured). Give Duquette credit for being proactive, but it's fair to ask if those pitchers really represent an improvement over what the Orioles already have available on their 40-man roster. Saunders struggled in his first Orioles start Wednesday night, giving up four runs in the first inning of a blowout loss to the White Sox that ended a four-game winning streak. Can't read too much into that, since Chris Tillman and Wei-Yin Chen -- two of the biggest reasons for the club's recent surge -- also have had big first-inning flareups lately.
