Robert Hicks Jr., Owings Mills, Family Advisory Committee Member, sits on a sofa in a new patient room. Hicks sat at the bedside of his critically ill son between September 2006 and January 2007 in the current pediatric wing. Because of the experience of not having facilities for family members in the room he became a member of the advisory board. Rooms in the new buildings will have bathrooms with showers, a sofa that doubles as a bed and other amenities. The Johns Hopkins Hospital will soon add 1.6 million square feet of space with a new patient care building. The main entrance to the hospital will also change.
