Jemaury Scarlett, a former resident of the Franklin Square neighborhood, looks at one of the two murals taking shape. A vacant lot at 220 N. Carey Street is being transformed into "Sunflower Village," with landscaping, plants and two murals designed by The Can Collective. The funding for the park is from a $1.4 million bequest from the estate of William Donald Schaefer to create an endowment to fund neighborhood projects.
