Outfielder Nolan Reimold and second baseman Brian Roberts played only briefly last season because of injuries that have put their careers in doubt, but both could be impact players this year if they can shake off the effects of their checkered medical histories. Hey, if Peyton Manning can come back strong from a neck fusion in a sport where they try to break your neck on every play, why not Reimold? Roberts has grappled with a variety of injuries over the past three seasons, but he¿s burning to prove that he still can be an elite leadoff man. Maybe they're both longshots to play the whole season, but longshots come in some times, as last year's season proved.
