Chris Davis is officially on the Eutaw Street board.
The Orioles’ big slugger cleared the flag court with a 418-foot blast to right in the seventh inning against former Oriole Jim Miller.
It was Davis’ fourth homer of the season, and the first of his career to land on Eutaw Street. It’s the 59th homer to land there in Camden Yards’ history, the 25th one hit by an Oriole. The last time an Oriole did it was June 7, 2011, by Luke Scott, also against the Oakland A’s.
Davis’ homer gave the Orioles a 10-1 lead Saturday night.
Orioles starter Wei-Yin Chen did not come back for the eighth, after turning in another superb outing. The 26-year-old Taiwanese lefty allowed just one earned run on six hits and two walks in seven innings – a major league career high in his fourth start. He struck out four. The only run he allowed was a solo homer by Jonny Gomes in the sixth.
Chen has allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his four starts. This was his second consecutive quality start.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
