Martinez is now the fourth catcher on the Orioles’ 40-man roster, joining starter
Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette said he was impressed with Martinez's defense – he threw out 31 percent of basestealers in the minors – and his .362 career on-base percentage in the minor leagues.
"He has a good arm, he can get on base and he can control the running game, which are all good things," Duquette said. "I think he will be additive to the team with his defense and on-base capability. We've been looking for depth at the catching position."
