The Orioles are looking to rebound tonight from Friday's tough 4-2 loss to the Braves here at Turner Field.

Chris Davis will be back in right field tonight, making his second major league start there after having a nice debut on Friday.

"I think he’s looking at it as a change to one hopefully help the team and two, to show me he can play somewhere else if so needed. But we knew that coming into the season," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said.

Showalter said Davis' ability to play the outfield -- the manager isn't hesitant to give Davis time in left field as well -- gives the Orioles important positional flexibility out of the DH spot in the case of an injury.

Right-hander Jason Hammel starts for the Orioles tonight. He's 6-2 with a 3.22 ERA  overall, but is 0-3 with a 9.00 ERA against the Braves and 0-2 with a 11.74 ERA at Turner Field.

In other news:

-- Showalter said RF Nick Markakis heads back to the doctor on Friday, when he could be cleared to resume hitting activities. Showalter said he's been able to do mostly everything else.

-- Left-hander Zach Britton makes his third start for Triple-A Norfolk tonight, but Showalter said he'd placing no special emphasis on Britton's start compared to any of the other Tides starters. "He’s optioned down there and he’s one of their five starters," Showalter said. "I ask as much about Tillman, Berken, Moyer, Gonzalez. He’s one of the guys who is looking for an opportunity if we have a need here. He controls that, but don’t have it written down that this is the day Zach Britton is pitching."

-- Brian Roberts will get his first off day since his return on Sunday because it is a day-after-night game. “He’s not asking for it,” Showalter said. “He doesn’t feel like he necessarily needs it. It’s a thing that I’ll decide.” Robert Andino will start in his place.

-- The Orioles must prepare to be without left-handed reliever Dana Eveland at some point over the next few weeks. His wife is due to give birth on June 26.
