Everybody loves this movie. It was made with a seriously low budget (approximately $1.5 million), stars a 6-year-old (now 9-year-old actress Quvenzhané Wallis, who is the youngest Best Actress nominee) -- and has surprised everybody with its combination of power, fantasy and grace. There's always one movie for which the nomination is the prize. This year, that's "Beasts of the Southern Wild." Hey, at least the Academy noticed. Maybe its members aren't as stodgy as people think.
