The giant fireworks display, which was sponsored by The Baltimore Sun last year, will be the grand finale to a party that will start at 9 p.m. and feature a concert by hot local band Outbreak at the Inner Harbor amphitheatre.

In other words, the Orioles are going to start lighting up the sky a little early. They open

spring training

in Sarasota less than six weeks later.

The New Year's celebration is expected to draw at least an Oriole Park-sized crowd. It won't be cheap, but it doesn't figure to prevent the Orioles from making any more player moves.
