Wasn't it just weeks ago that you were blissfully unaware of Pinterest? Pin-ta-wha?<br><br>

Traffic to the invitation-only social media site has multiplied exponentially in just the last few months. It's been called one of the fastest-growing sites ever.<br><br>

Pinners, Pinsters, Pin-a-nistas -- a lot of them women -- load their boards with pictures of things they like and things they might someday make or wear or cook. More subtly, these carefully tended boards display what we'd like other people to think we might make or wear or cook. ("Hey, look at me with my champagne cupcakes, my sparkly cocktail ring and my ability to turn a handful of buttons, some used string and a stained sweater into a Halloween costume that will leave my son's entire fourth-grade class in a covetous sweat!")<br><br>

As a public service to the folks who have plenty of dreams but, as yet, no pins, here's a little introduction to the pinners you'll soon meet -- and the pinner you might become.
