Joe Linta, the agent for Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco and center Matt Birk, said Monday night that he and Ravens officials are scheduled to meet again in the next week to 10 days to continue discussing his clients.
Linta and the Ravens met 10 days ago at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. Linta called the meeting “a good visit” and said the Ravens made it clear they are committed to Flacco as their franchise quarterback.
“They want him and he wants to be in Baltimore,” Linta told my colleague Jeff Zrebiec after the Feb. 25 meeting. “The point of the [meeting] was just to get the feeling that they really wanted to work for this and get this done."
Flacco, 27, has one season left on the five-year contract he signed in 2008, but Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti has stated that reaching a long-term deal with Flacco is one of their offseason priorities.
Meanwhile, Birk, 35, does not plan to retire this offseason and the soon-to-be unrestricted free agent is interested in returning to the Ravens next season. Birk and Ravens head coach John Harbaugh spoke before the scouting combine, where Harbaugh later said, “We want to have him back if he wants to come back.”
